After Action Reports Little Soldiers

Retreat from Riverbase 1

Part 2

Then before the infantry were able to board, their transport was barely missed by a HEL shot. Technoid Light Walkers appeared out of the woods on the hill across the river (The picture isn't very good but you can just see the silhouettes on the ridge-line if you look closely).

This was bad news for the convoy. The command platoon began taking fire, first the APC, then the ADS, which had just activated it's sensors and was pulling up to defend the convoy from a second GMS attack. The infantry seemed invincible though, and walked calmly to the fortifications amid the stabbing laser beams. The convoy wasn't doing much better, the escorts shot down the command VTOL but lost another Luchen and a truck. The remain VTOL lost its nerve and took off around the forest.

Realizing his escort was useless, Lieutenant Osmand decided to take thing in his own hands and lead his trucks on down the road. Ahead the Technoid Command platoon was approaching, the support walker had fired off its Artillery ineffectually at the infantry and so neither vehicle seemed to be too much of a threat to the trucks (who had insider information that command platoons don't usually carry anything other than APSWs).

Unfortunately for the escort force, the command platoon was killed by the light walkers, and the Luchens sat routed in the forest, only two of their five vehicles left. The infantry had a lucky shot at the last VTOL when it came up the river around the forest, hovered too close to the fortifications, and found itself within range of their IAVRs. So it too crashed and burned.

In a bold move, Lt. Osmand's trucks charged the Technoid Command platoon and then sped on by. The light walkers had spend their activation firing at the pesky infantry (with no effect again) and so missed their chance to splatter the trucks as they passed by.
