After Action Reports Little Soldiers

Retreat from Riverbase 1

Conclusion to the Retreat from Riverbase 1

Smoke was rising from the burning vehicles scattered around Riverbase 1. For Sergeant Robins, the stinging fumes only served to hide the tears for his friends. They had pulled Captain Benneg from his burning APC and he sat bandaged in the corner of the trench. The supply trucks were gone, and Robins' squad of grunts was left to guard an empty base. It was a really good thing that their fortified positions were proof against the Technoids weapons - well, so far. He only hoped that the other half of the Company would return to pick them up soon.

Thoughts about the Scenario...

Okay, I didn't use the VTOLs very well. I might have done better if I had kept them further away and let their GMS attack from far off. But I wasn't sure how the ADS would work against them. I actually didn't even try it, but figured they would stay in low mode to avoid any confrontations.

The Delbac escort was woefully unprepared. The command squad was really a waste. I had meant to give the infantry GMS capability, but forgot. So, since the command vehicle and APC were equipped with only APSWs, the entire platoon had no anti-vehicle capability (unless you count the ADS being used as a RFAC/1). Also about that ADS... this is the second time I've used one, and they don't work for me. As soon as they light up something gets them. This time it actually got to shoot at (and miss) a missile before going down...

The Technoid Light Walker platoon really should have been the one charging up the road, but then that's the excitement of shuffling the hidden markers before placing them.

It was an okay scenario... for my small board. Might be fun to play with an opponent instead of solo, next time.
